Frequently Asked Questions Over the past several decades we have been asked many questions about our work. Here are common questions with our responses. 1. Can I Actually Use These? Yes. Everything on the site as been designed and made for use in your kitchen. Our work may also look nice hanging on the wall, but that is merely a fortunate coincidence. 2. How Do I Care For My Wooden Ware?
DOs - Hand wash with warm water and soap. - Re-coat with mineral oil after heavy use or when dry . - Smooth with light grit sandpaper when rough. DON'Ts
4. Which Wood Is Better?- Don't place in the dishwasher. - Don't use as a spanking paddle. - Don't expose to open flame. 3. Do You Make Everything Yourselves? Yes. Everything we sell is made by a member of the family. A large majority are made by John C Weyer. Some items are made by John's son's John, George and Charles. You can tell who made your piece if you look at the initials burned into the back or handle. JCW - John C. Weyer JJW - John J. Weyer GWW - George W. Weyer CSW - Charles S. Weyer The simple answer is none of them. We use only durable, close grained hardwoods so all of the woods we use are sturdy enough for kitchen use. The best for you is the wood that suits you. Pick a wood by its color or the pattern of its grain. Pick a wood that matches your kitchen. Pick a wood that grows near your home. 5. How Long Will It Take Me To Get My Order? Last minute shoppers be warned. Processing time varies based on the time of year and the volume of orders we are dealing with. Each piece has to be made by hand and are able to keep only a limited inventory on hand. There is no overseas supplier to ramp up production. We will be able to give rough estimate at the time we confirm your order. 6. Do You Do Custom Work? Yes. Contact us with detailed description of what you are looking for and we will see if your idea is something we can do. Pricing and order time will vary. |
