Weyerworks: A Family Wood Carving Business Since ???? Weyerworks is a family wood carving business that is is proud to offer high-quality traditional wooden ware. Weyerworks' wooden kitchen utensils are durable tools made into understated pieces of art by the natural beauty of wood and their simple flowing design. John C. Weyer (Weyerworks founder) first got his start in wood carving as a boy while learning the basics of the art from his father and uncles. John continued carving as he earned his college degree from Iowa State in Industrial Technology and became a master electrician with the IBEW in Burlington, IA. It was during a series of temporary layoffs in his electrical work that John expanded his carving into a business as a means of generating extra income. In Month of 19.. John and his wife Marian traveled to ______ to publicly exhibit their work for the first time. In the following years they exhibited their work at art shows throughout Iowa, Illinois, Mousouri, Indiana, Kentucky and Florida. John gradually expanded and refined his selection of wooden ware. Basing his changes on the experiences his family and customers had while using his work in their kitchens. John also began teaching his children how to carve starting when they were three years old. His sons (John J., George and Charles) and daughter (Elizabeth) started by selling wooden boats for other children at festivals. Now their work is sold alongside their father's, distinguished only by the initials burned into the bottom of handle. Over the years John's work has received the recognition and support of his customers, art/craft critics, and the media. LIST O AWARDS Today, John and his sons continue to carve and have expanded their selection of products. Their work can be found at art/craft festivals through the central United States and is available through mail order. |
