Dennis Keen has received a Fulbright fellowship to study falconry in Kyrgystan. Dennis began studying Russian in his freshman year at UCSC, and was one of the residents of the Soviet Apartment in 2007-08. He also participated in the Education Abroad program in Moscow.
Corey Heimlich received the Education Abroad Program Undergraduate Research Award and the Dean’s Undergraduate Award for his wonderful documentary on Russians’ love of poetry. He made the film while on the Education Abroad Program in Moscow, taking a video camera into the streets and asking people to recite their favorite poems. The opening scene below is just wonderful, and the whole thing is great. You can watch the video here:
