assistant professor of political science at the University
of Chicago. My first
book, Autocracy
and Redistribution: The Politics of Land
Reform, is forthcoming at Cambridge
University Press in the Cambridge Studies in
Comparative Politics series. My research has been
also published in the British Journal of
Political Science, Comparative
Political Studies, Economics &
Politics, Journal of Conflict
Resolution, Comparative
Politics, International
Studies Quarterly, and Latin American
Research Review. I recently published an op-ed
in the
Washington Post's The
Monkey Cage on the relationship between
