06 Nov, 2004 - Final week of ramadan. It has been a blessed one, with the cold weather descending on Chicago and the re-election of Bush... No, really it has been. Today the weather is 15 degrees warmer and IL now has Barack Obama representing us as the only black senator in the U.S. ALSO, my family visited me here for the first time together, I've been seeing kids all day (mostly healthy toddlers) at a pediatric clinic and breaking my fast with a great group of brothers and sisters on campus.

Last night I did my first shift in the Pediatric ER. Believe the hype of busy Friday nights- I saw a head laceration, a couple broken arms, a fungal infection on a butt, asthma attack and a gunshot through the butt out the inner thigh. More details on request..

Now for a couple pictures that brought back good memories of the beginning of the summer. (1) Manual labor for 3 weeks in a beautiful setting with idealistic folk should be a prescription for 'recovery from Boards'
(2) Game of futbol with the locals in the 10pm Iceland sun.
(3) At this point, we were thinking, What a great view. How do we get back?

27 Sep, 2004 - My boy, M. Hasan Ali, the VP extraordinaire of MSA at University of Chicago sent me the link to this humorous video on being a young muslim struggling against the man.

Just got back from North Carolina after a week of relaxing post-Surgery. One quarter of hospital rotations down, many more to go. Amazing how much your perspective on medicine and the hospital can change after one rotation.

7 Sep, 2004 - The town council of Sudavik, Iceland posted lots of our pics on their webpage. Click the "Workcamp Juni 2004" one.
The group in Iceland that hosted me and the other international volunteers posted the pics they took at Worldwide Friends. Click on "Work Camp Sudavik" - the one with the MOST photos. You get a different feel from the two pages. the second one paints a funnier and less professional picture of our group.

26 Mar, 2004 - Deciding to spruce up this front page alittle more, I'm going to start a "pic of the day" which will lead you to the page that it's on to answer the Q

Who IS this guy?
Why does he look like he's been up all day?
Where can you find this vibrant young fellow?

25 Mar, 2004 - Spring Break 2004 has been a good mix of relaxation, fun and recharging. The first weekend was spent in K.C. for the AMSA National Convention. My one and only sibling, Sara Turshani, has been showing me a good time in San Jose for most of my break. It was good to see her after almost a year in her new home. Her outdoor campus reminds me of the sunshiney warm USF.

As of today ALL the main links from this page are working! The last one I got to was Fotos today.
Updated more books I read under the Useful page.

13 Feb, 2004 - The first half of my second winter in Chicago is over! Marked by a big test in the class that consumes my life, called (CPP) Clinical PathoPhysiology, it's all downhill from here. After our next test in 5 weeks I get to visit my sister in Cali for the first time since she got married. This Chicago weather isn't so bad anymore. It dawned on me a couple days ago while talking to my mom. Telling her it was warm on a day that it was 37 degrees, she laughed at me and told me it was 80 back home in St. Pete.

Look out for an update on the Useful page with readings since med school started, followed by pics with my med school amigos under Friends

06 May, 2003 - Shan: Happy 24th Birthday! On this glorious day of yours, here's a little artwork Nate and I made in your bedroom a few months ago.. Oh and he's some some advice that Nate wanted to share with you..

05 May, 2003 - A year ago today, I walked across the graduation platform in the USF Sun Dome. Congrats to all you Bulls that walked last Saturday! Tonight I got a call from the girls that will be taking over this apartment the day we head out on June 15. It's sad that I haven't updated this page since before I even moved IN this place. The roomates I have now are truly great guys that I've been blessed to live with. Shan and Nathan- thanx for having faith in me over Dave! These two live their life in many ways that I strive for- very selflessly, always joking and light-hearted yet commited to things they love.
This quarter has been great! Can I get a 'whoot whoot' for Pass/Fail?! Revamped the School page to make sure people don't think I'm still at USF and applying to med school :)

22 August, 2002 - Still over a month before orientation starts at University of Chicago so I'm reading even more books lately.
Borrowed both Crashing the Party and Why God Won't go Away: Brain Science and the Biology of Belief from the USF library. I learned that they keep my account active for a full 6 months after graduation. sweet. Half.com hooked me up with a $10 off coupon, so I got Warped Tour 2002 and Five Iron Frenzy CD's along with American Muslims all for about $18, inculding shipping. I added the most recent books and short reviews under Useful.

29 July, 2002 - Got back from Espana just over 10 days ago. My spanish was good enough to make it the whole month and improved quite a bit- though I can't quite say I'm fluent yet. Overall, an awesome time with the kids and volunteers, and I highly recommend looking into Volunteers for Peace for an affordable, rewarding vacation.
On my quest to get something on every page, I created a 'Reading List' on Useful.

10 May, 2002 - Graduated this past Sat. woo-hoo. Driving to Cali w/ my main man Josef. the only sister, Sara, shall be married by the end of the month to leave me and mother alone. sob, sob... No, we're actually VERY happy for her. Love you, Sara!

07 March, 2002- Found MORE time to hit up Campus Amigos and even updated the School page...
Also want to ask for your prayers and a moment of silence for the passing away of Abu Sherif Mageed (Sherif's father) who died of a heart attack this week. May god have mercy on his soul and that Sherif's good deeds will be counted for him.

02 March, 2002 - Finally got around to scanning pics that are a good cross-section of all the stuff I do around campus and made a page out of it under Friends. Hopefully this is a sign of more updates to come!

25 July, 2001 - Created a page for my European Travels for your viewing pleasure.

10 July, 2001 - School page revamped completely. Also did the whole yale supplemental app thing.

30 May, 2001 - Two more pictures in Friends. Specialty mixture of Jen's foot + Chicken Grease = Great picture!
