Fun Ride

Got up at 4am, I had a great time participating in the Bike The Drive event. The near 30 mile bike ride was not as tiring as before, probably because there was no killer head wind. And the road actually was smooth and made biking easier--until we got potholes up northside. The most dangerous riders was not the ones going fast, but kids. Kids who don't pay attention to traffic and it's so hard to predict what they will do. Then there were those without helmets. It did get crowded, but similar to car traffic, that all dissipated when we passed south of Roosevelt road.

Definitely signing up next year, and will look for other bike ride events in the future.

New Favorite

SCHUBERT Fantasie in F Minor for Piano Four Hands, D.940

Heard live as an encore at CSO, played by James Levine and Daniel Barenboim.

Tragic, mellow, yet powerful and playful as well.

Now, where's that recording...?

Gearing Up

Bike the Drive, an city-wide event that involves bicyclists roaming up and down the entire length of Lake Shore Drive, will be taking place on May 29th. It's a morning activity, starts at 5am, and ends at 10am. I mean, they have to reopen LSD to normal traffic. We'd have to get up at the crack of dawn and peddle like hell. I estimate that the total mileage logged on that day will be around 30 miles... I am been told that the activites at Grand Park is not to be missed. Should be a fun time. I have witnessed it last two years since my apartment overlooks LSD. And man, the crowds were loud, at 6 in the morning.

What a nice way to start off the summer.

Sushi Scout no more

All good things come to an end, and my gig as a sushi scout has ended. Overall, I had a great time, but learned the lesson that freelance work is not fun--since you work on other people's schedule. Now, I'll have to look another 15 minute of fame...

This experience has led me to wanting to write a review of different restaurants that I'll eat at, and post it on this blog site.

What a joke!

The Orioles vs White Sox game this week marks the return of Sammy Sosa... highly anticipated, at least for Chicagoans, because we get to boo the hell out of Sosa. Except Sosa chickened out and is placed on DL due to foot injury... just in time for the series in Chicago. So timely because the Orioles only visit Chicago once this year. I thought I had the chance to witness some fun at the park.. but I guess I'll just enjoy another regular game...

An eventful year

I realized that I have been booking quite a lot of activities for the rest of this year and next year as well. Baseball games in summer, two Broadway musicals, symphony concerts in fall, and other miscellaneous social gatherings. This list, of course, doesn't include any last minute outings.

Then there's work on top of that. Gosh, am I over my head? Sounds like I'll be exhausted. I am glad that the scheduling is spaced out with enough rest time, or refractory period. Maybe my attention/entertainment span is short and need constant excitation... yep, it's true.. I'm addicted.
