That's fucking cold! I've been living in Chicago for 6 straight years, and I still believe, it gets colder every year.

Eventually, we all succumb to something.

After reading about the making of GT4 for PS2 and the current availability of SoulCalibur II, I purchased a PS2 myself. It doubles as my DVD player. What I noticed/read about the PS2 is that Sony changed some of the hardwares. First of all, the DVD player has progressive scan capability. Which means nothing unless you have a HDTV or digital TV. Second, Sony took out the iLink port since it added more manufactoring cost and not many people use it. Third, the infer-red port for the remote control is built in, instead of needing another IR adaptor. Lastly, the fan that cools the system is much quieter than the previous PS2. Small changes make the difference.

I have the console hooked up with stereo audio/component video to my TV, and outputed the TV audio to my stereo. so far it sounds and looks great. Much easier to watch DVDs on the PS2 than through my computer.

As for SoulCalibur II, it reminded me of the reason why I bought PS1 before (SoulBlade). This weapon-based one-on-one 3D fighting game is just awesome.

Hellz yeah! Vroom, Vroom...

Just read about the news that Sony is working on Gran Turismo 4 for PS2. There is already an Asian version out, but the North American release won't happen until probably mid-2004.

Rev up your engines, GT lovers!

Sunrise
This is a winter sunrise that I took from my apartment window. It just begged to be taken. I also took a picture of the sun coming out of the lake, but since the sun was too bright, the background didn't look too goo. Anyway, I think this picture of the sunrise turned out very well. I used the landscape setting, no flash (since I would get reflection from the glass window), and ISO 400 speed film.

Downtown 2
This is a much improved shot of Chicago skyline at night from the Shedd Aquarium. In the picture are Sarah and I. It almost looked like a painted backdrop. Compared with the previous skyline shot, this one shows more contrast between darkness and light. Less exposed.

Downtown Chicago
I took this picture of downtown Chicago from Shedd Aquarium. I was trying to capture the skyline, but a little too much light got onto the film. I was also trying to get the contrast between red/green on buildings' top, instead of the yellowish color from the street light. I'll probably have to tone down the aperature.

Field Museum
Here, I was standing in front of the Field Museum of Natural History. I wanted to capture the tree lights as well as entrance to the Field Museum/totem pole/marqee. This is using a flash to highlight the subject (me) and also allow the background lights to enter. I used a tripod and the camera self-timer to take this picture.

Field Museum 2
I was suppose to be in the picture in this last exposure of the roll, but the self-timer went off before I could get to the backpack and be in the picture. I was trying to use the red-eye reduction when the flash is activated to brighten the subject.

My Parents
Here is a picture of my parents. I used the auto exposure setting, where the camera automatically sets everything. This is the easiet setting one can use. With the flash, everything looks bright.

Falling Jenga Blocks
While my sister was playing Jenga with my dad, I took a picture using fast motion setting. I focused on the Jenga blocks, hoping that it would fall when the wrong block was removed. I wanted to catch the falling in stop motion. Luckily, I was able to catch my sister's facial expression, which was out of focus because the blocks were the center of focus.
