the South Asian Languages and Civilizations PhD program at the University
of Chicago. He has since given portions of this paper at the University
of Chicago's Theory and Practice in South Asia workshop and the
University of Wisconsin-Madison's conference on South Asia. This

bookstores and on the Holland-America worldcruise.The paper is entitled
'Jadoo- Images and Illusions ofIndian Magic and Magic India.' It
is a textual study exploringthe relationships between magic and
India and between India andthe Western world.
