All about the Movement

My May is all about the movement.

Next week I move into my new office at work (in both the general and physical senses).

The week after that I get the keys to my new apartment in Hyde Park. I don't have to be out of my current place (on Lord Byron's Way) until the end of May, so I'll try to conduct the move in parts. Despite the many arguments for moving back to Hyde Park, it took me quite a while to get myself ready for it. The apartment is alright, not perfect, but has tremendous upside. I decided to live in the university part of hyde park (58th & Blackstone), which was also a contentious decision that could have gone either way. I'm pleased with how it's all worked out, and hopefully I'll still feel that way as time passes. Hyde Park is a wonderful place to live in the summer, autumn, and spring. The winter is the big question mark.

In the background to all of this is our big year-end event at work (may 25-26) which I'm trying to make work better and bigger with a smaller core staff (since it's more in our benefit to not hire a replacement staff person until late in the summer to maximize funds). I'm trying to use volunteers and part-timers to handle more this year. I'm wary, but confident that we will make it all work out. It will cost me (personally) many more hours in May than I'm realizing right now.
