Mid-Week

I'll be at the Illinois Technology Conference for Educators tomorrow as a gawker. Our group hasn't been particularly interested in participating in this sort of thing, but I'm drawing the conclusions that we're going to have to present some at these conferences in order to raise our profile more. Next year we'll submit things to ICE and NECC.

I took the week of March 13th off from work. It's my "quiet before the storm" week. (Tentatively) I'm going to spend a day plus in st. louis the weekend of the 11th catching up with H2, spend a couple of days back here cleaning up and sizing up the moving possibilities, then a long-ish weekend in Washington DC. It should be fun and will put me back in contact with some good folks.

Went to a Chicago-area peace corps (CAPCA) thing last night... in part because it was on the south side (had to represent) and I wanted to get a sense what the uchicago peace corps crowd looks like these days. I've been to 3 of these dinners in the past 4 years now.

I've had a good Peace Corps experience of late. One of my neighbors in VW/SA, TSM, has started college in Johannesburg for electrical engineering and is corresponding with me via email! I met TSM in '99 and he must have been 11 or 12. Time sure flies! His family was very kind to me (and looked out for me back in VW). Anyhow, thanks to the magic of the internet I was able to post some pictures from back in the day to the web for him to review. Fantastic.
