Prospective Patients: The Comprehensive Aphasia Center of Chicago is a joint project of the Department of Neurology at The University of Chicago and the Center for Aphasia Research at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Neurology evaluations take place at the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine of The University of Chicago, 5758 South Maryland Avenue, on the Hyde Park Campus of the University of Chicago. Prospective patients should ask their physician to send a letter to me at the above address or to email my confidential clinical email address: small@aphasiatherapy.org.
Research Areas include the normal neurobiology of language and hand motor systems and the effects of stroke on these systems. There is a web site for the Human Neuroscience Laboratory.
Network Modeling: We are members of an international collaborative effort to understand brain injury and repair in terms of distributed network models. The Brain Network Recovery Group takes an interactive contextual view of neural processing.
Brain and Language is an international journal devoted to brain research in human language from the perspectives of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, cognitive and computational neuroscience, psychology, linguistics, neurology, psychiatry, communication disorders, and history and philosophy of science.
