Academic Honesty and Collaboration

Collaboration between students is healthy and enlivening and improves your educational experience in essentially every way, as long as that collaboration is done in the right spirit. Please observe the following guidelines for any collaborations in which you participate:
  1. Document every collaboration clearly and in writing on every piece of collaborative work. Name those with whom you collaborated and describe the nature of the collaboration. Example: John Smith and I came up with the solution to problem 2 together and loosely discussed the rest of the problems.
  2. Never blindly copy the work of another student.
  3. Never allow your work to be blindly copied by another.
People who copy others' work or allow their own work to be copied will be disciplined accordingly.

With respect to honesty, remember that the goal of higher education is not to compile good grades for the sake of it. The goal is to understand. When in doubt, appeal to that as your guiding principle.
