Occasionally, I do have two turntables and a
microphone. That is, when I'm DJing at WHPK. But
otherwise, this is where I'm at if I'm at home. Correction! I can't
even go to this place anymore, cause the people that live there now
would probably call the cops on me! Pine Valley is the street, and
my house is right where the 'e' in Pine is. The park and the train
tracks were almost all we needed as children, ready to get into
whatever we weren't supposed to be getting into.
The block northeast of Esch Park contained Georgetown Mall, which is
old enough that it's not a strip mall, but more of just a grocery
store with warts. That was all we needed, cause then we had
somewhere to spend our change, in addition to fishing for sewage in
the pond by the tracks, and skateboarding around the park. There's a
Kroger, and a
drug store, which was Cunninghams, then Perry, and now Rite-Aid (the stupidest and most
sterile name yet). Also a pizza place, a cleaners, a Hallmark, and a couple
of offices in the back.
Pine Valley will always be my childhood neighborhood, but I'm forced to hang out in a bunch of condos when I come home now. My parents moved, so my new Ann Arbor address is 3625 Meadow Grove Trail A2 48108. Isn't that a disgusting name for a street? Ah well, it's a cool house, and it's right next to Meijer's, which is almost as good as Kroger, so I'll deal. My new phone number, if you want to contact me when I'm in Ann Arbor, is (734)769-5805. Otherwise, bug off.
