Matthew Christian: Children, Science, Speed

A training log with reflections on running and bicycling. From time to time science (work) and children (family) inevitably join to make this a conversational space and open journal.

Results at last

Results for the NYD run are in and can be accessed here.

My Official time: 22:36 at 7:18 pace

Ran 27th overall, 6th in my age group. They list 332 people who were chip-timed, which puts me at about 8%---so I beat the 10% mark which was my only real goal for the day. Would have had to run better than 6:43 to hit the age-division podium---I think I could have run around 7:00 if I had started smarter which would have put me 4th or 5th and kicked me up 8-10 spots overall. With top three spots going to sub 19:00 runners, I have a long way to go. I would like to have the USMC standard of 18:00 under my belt, but if that happens it will certainly not be on an ice-and-snow course.
