Halfway Through the Blue Workouts

Regular workouts keep you pretty honest. If you do not get enough sleep, you suffer. If you eat poorly, you suffer. If you drink too much, you suffer. As such, part of the health benefit from running/biking/swimming comes from changing your lifestyle in healthy ways SO THAT you can do this on a regular basis. I don't want to overplay that---my 'so that' is still a bit backward: I run SO THAT I can eat junk food and still lose weight---but boy do I pay for it when I eat poorly.
Last night was the opposite problem: got home from a late meeting at 11:15 and did not go to sleep until around 1. I was back up at 5:30AM to so that I could get over to the pool by 6. Someone asked me as I was leaving when I 'had to be at work' which is a funny question since no one determines my schedule. But I do have a pretty orderly way of doing things: I have to be up by 5:30 so that I can get to the gym when it opens at 6. I have to be at the gym at 6 so that I am out by 7 and can find street parking at work. But do I have to be at work? Nope---I am writing this from Salonica, a very decent diner a few blocks from work---and I will go in shortly.
Anyway, all of that is to say that I am tired this morning, but even tired I managed to do the whole workout without any of the recommended rest stops (I did rest between VKs). I suppose I am figuring it all out and that gives me some satisfaction overall---even when things get hectic at work and home and when I go to my workout underfed and overtired.
