As you know from reading this, the Turkey Trot was today and I am very pleased with the results. In terms of goals, I am entirely satisfied with pace and with overall output. HR was in zone 5.5 and really shows that I ran at the peak of my current fitness level. I will have more to say about the whole process in the days ahead, but for now I just want to record the salient details:
| Summary Data | ||
| Total Time (h:m:s) | 0:37:42 | 7:24 pace |
| Moving Time (h:m:s) | 0:37:02 | 7:17 pace |
| Distance (mi ) | 5.08 | |
| Moving Speed (mph) | 8.2 avg. | 12.0 max. |
| Elevation Gain (ft) | +74 / -77 | |
| Avg. Heart Rate | 175 bpm | Zone 5.5 |
| Temperature (°F) | 30.2°F avg. | 30.2°F high |
| Wind Speed ( mph) | NNW 17.2 avg. | NNW 18.4 max. |
As I said, HR was exactly where I would want to see it:

Definitely hitting max overall and I could really feel it during the last mile where I was digging deep for maximum power. Mile 2 and 5 were both at 6:55 pace. I think Mile 1 might have been that had it not been for dodging 6000 people coming out of the gate (well, maybe just 2k in front of me).
Very pleased with the overall results, 219 out of 3149 overall (top 7%); 27th out of 240 in my age group (top 12%). To get in the top 100 I would have had to run under 33:00 or better than a 6:39 pace. That is a very reasonable 'ultimate' goal for this event over the next couple years. More on all of this later.
