Persistent Odometer
One of the problems with the Garmin is its lack of a persistent odometer. The Training Center helps, but I have to do the math here. Astrale had 687.4; Garmin now has 176.35 (biking only) so 863.75. Even with adjustments for Cateye Failures and lack of data from Tahoe, I think we are just around 900 for the season. Not too bad for someone who started in July and has not been too committed to this until lately. If I can run at 100/week for a few more weeks, I will be pleased. It will be hard to get my mileage up much higher unless I do something different.
As I mentioned in a previous post, my rear Open Tubular was getting too many flats so I stupidly moved it up front to buy time. I ended up buying a new front after 2 front flats on Monday. This is a step down in the Vittoria line (Diamonte?). Rode solidly this morning, it just better get more than 800 miles. I want another 800 out of the one that is now on the rear (former front) or I will be grouchy. By then, I will need to get the drivetrain professionally cleaned.
If I put about 3-4k on this set of wheels, I think I can buy something a little faster without too much guilt. Ideally next summer I might be putting on up to 150 per week (probably do a bike-run-bike thing as a morning workout). I expect to put on 3k next season if things continue.
