Riding at 5am (CDT, actually 6am EDT) in Wakulla is a much darker affair than the perpetual twilight created by Chicago's streetlights. The cateye light made all of the difference. Went on the slow side outbound (16.1 mph avg) while I surveyed the St. Mark's trail to make sure that I would not hit any unpleasantness along the way. Very clean, smooth, and perfectly straight trail with only two traffic crossings on that 12 mile stretch. This will be fun over the next few days. Ran at 19mph avg on the way back. Third lap here is just gravel road.

The driveway where I am staying, is sand, so I walked out in some running shoes and then switched to cleats. While I was gone, one of the neighborhood dogs seems to have absconded with one of my shoes. More funny than aggravating, honestly.
