Faster this week than last by .1 mph overall. Inbound slightly faster as well. Went without the HR monitor this time. The data is interesting, but in thinking about it this morning, we get such slight variances that daily readings are not truly necessary.
At about 7000 North, I got to chuckling to myself about how unlikely I would be to want to DRIVE that far North unless something really interesting was going on. But for biking, heading to an extremely UN-interesting part of town is just about ideal since traffic is typically low and the low traffic on this path at this time of day. Mostly just one of those riding days where you get in the zone and go.
One thing that snapped me out of the zone was the headlight: Bought a new super-bright LED headlamp a few weeks back, since the old one was a little bulky, prone to slipping, and not as bright as I would like. On Thursday it popped off and then twice in the first mile of my ride today---leaving a couple cracks in the casing that make it impossible to keep on the bike now (and the switch seems bunk too). I like the light, so I may just glue it to the mount. Fortunately, there are really only about 5 places along the ride that warrant any light and they are fairly doable without it. Bugs me because the light cost about $50 and did not even give me 300 miles (I don't ask things to last forever, but a couple thousand miles would be nice).
