A training log with reflections on running and bicycling. From time to time science (work) and children (family) inevitably join to make this a conversational space and open journal.

Start Time: 05:31:47 AM

I turned off the alarm somewhere in dreamland and by the time I woke up, it seemed light outside and I thought that I had missed my 'window' for a Friday morning run. Chicago with its perpetual twilight fooled me again and although I 'slept in', it was only 5:15 when I awoke. Based on yesterday (and the forecast), I put on hat, gloves and tights this morning to combat the cold. Once out running, I discovered that it was not cold at all: the hat and gloves were off within 10 minutes and the vest was unzipped a few minutes later.

The wind from the previous days has taken its toll on the trail: deep sand drifts made path at 57th Street complicated at best and I saw cyclists dismounting to go around. Tati may need to find another route for the Time Trial this coming Monday unless the parks department gets out to shovel.

Normally when I run, I just go into the zone and think about my body, the music, the landscape, etc. Back at work and energized, I found myself making plans and thinking about the projects that I have on deck going forward. As a result, the time passed pretty quickly and kicked out 7M without feeling like I worked too hard.
