It all started when..

Atul and Kirsten both sang in choirs during their undergraduate years at Harvard University - he in the all-men's Harvard Glee Club, she in the mixed Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum.  While they were casual friends initially and fellow inhabitants of the tight-knit social community of the three 'Holden Choirs' (the third being the all-female Radcliffe Choral Society), it was only when they discovered their mutual love for mangoes, garter snakes, and UNIX-based instant messaging, and Atul asked Kirsten to the Lowell House Spring Fling a few weeks before his graduation in 1998 - that things ceased to ever be the same.

It was thrilling, but it wasn’t so perfect right away.  In fact, it would be a long and bumpy road to the spring of 2000 in Dayton, Ohio, when the two sat in highway traffic in a rented car, both consultants traveling about the country, and finally decided: 'Let’s give this thing a real try and see what happens.' Shortly after, Atul secured a long-term client in Chicago, and soon each learned they just couldn’t live without the other.

They are proud to be living proof that sometimes you do find the right person at the wrong time.  With a little luck and earnest effort, the right time comes along.  =)

How did you get engaged?

Oh my.  This is a long story.  It involved months of careful plotting, a sympathetic bus driver, red herrings, rugelach, remastered college mix tapes, the Lowell House Tower Room, Holden Chapel, a troupe of bandit photographers in Chicago, a stuffed plush lion, Sting, Wagner's Die Walkure, Jhumpa Lahiri, Noch's Pizza and Subs, The Christian Scientist World Headquarters and their International Council, a slew of collaborating relatives, a night-vision camcorder, and - as always - a coconut.

Call us up and we’ll tell you sometime. =)
