I am interested in the interactions among exotic species, specifically the mechanisms of the interactions. To study these mechanisms, I am using a grassland system with both exotic plants and exotic European rabbits. I am interested in how rabbits are affecting dispersal, colonization, disturbance, and competitive interactions in the plant community. I have built a system of large fences to exclude rabbits from some areas of the grassland, and am tracking plant presence inside and outside of the fences. I can then use Markov Chain Models to track changes in plant transitions over time. By examining the transitions I can examine potential mechanisms.
