That’s me in the middle, trying to catch a ride in Tanzania.  My friend Breda (Harvard) and our field assistant, Maiko Munissi, are trying as well.  Luke Mahler (Harvard) took this picture. We eventually caught a beer truck.
The Eastern Arc Mountains are one of the most diverse areas on Earth; part of the East Afromontane biodiversity hotspot. These mountains offer a unique setting in which to explore how fragmented habitat and cyclic climate change have impacted the organisms relying on this montane niche.

I study intraspecific diversification of frog lineages through this mountain range, addressing questions of how population diverge when isolated on distant mountain tops. The frogs you see on the right are all the same species, exhibiting the extreme color variation found in this system!

I have amazing collaborators. Please check out their websites as well if you are interested in East Afromontane biodiversity!
