Katie Franich

Welcome! I am a postdoctoral teaching fellow in linguistics and the humanities at the University of Chicago.  My interests lie mainly in the area of phonetics and phonology, with a particular focus on production and perception of linguistic tone and its interaction with other aspects of prosodic structure.  Much of my research (including my dissertation, defended in fall of 2017) has drawn heavily on data from Medʉmba, a Grassfields Bantu language spoken in Cameroon.  You can find out more about this and other research interests of mine here.
