Zack Kertcher

Zack Kertcher is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Chicago. Combining the intellectual traditions of science and technology studies with organizational sociology, his work examines how entrepreneurs who develop technological innovation and novel organizational structures shape diverse professional communities. He is the co-Principal Investigator of a European Commission funded research project comparing virtual organizations of academic entrepreneurs in the US and Europe, and is the 2008-2009 Andrew W. Mellon Dissertation Fellow.

A native of Israel, Zack received his undergraduate degree from Tel Aviv University and an M.A. with Honors from the Committee of International Relations at the University of Chicago. He worked in information technology consulting in a wide variety of sectors. During his graduate studies he consulted to the National Opinion Research Center on a number of projects concerning innovation and social networks. He lives in Hyde Park, Chicago with his wife Ainat and two children: Nadav and Ma’ayan.
