| This is the front of the library building. Rather depressing, isn't it? This is one of the "starchitect" buildings. In fact, the only nice-looking building that the U of C has commissioned from a famous architect is the new Ratner Athletic Center. |

| Here is a much nicer photo that I took. It is unfortunately winter, but at least that means there's no foliage on the trees. Note the plastic-covered structures on the roof. They are doing some very, very noisy restoration work on the building. |

| This is the Museum of Science and Industry. It is located just a couple blocks south of the Shoreland. There are at least two other big buildings that do not appear in this image, however. |
