Jeff Jackson

I am a Harper-Schmidt Fellow in the Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts at the University of Chicago. I received my PhD in political theory from UCLA in June 2014.

My research interests include contemporary democratic theory, American pragmatism, Continental political theory, and philosophy of education. My book, Equality Beyond Debate: John Dewey’s Pragmatic Idea of Democracy, explores the conception of social and political democracy offered by classical pragmatist philosophy, and uses this conception to challenge the dominant deliberative understanding of democracy.
