Who is this guy, anyway?

(In case you're wondering, I'm the one on the right. )

I'm a scientist-in-training, first and foremost. I work in the laboratory of Eric Svensson, MD, PhD at the University of Chicago. As the front page indicates, I'm currently researching embryonic heart development in zebrafish embryos. For more information on that, see my curriculum vitae.

When I'm not in the lab, I'm usually sleeping. This is done in my apartment in Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood. I also sing, both with the Chicago Chamber Choir and with the Sine Nomine choir at my church, Saint Paul and the Redeemer in Hyde Park. (If you're interested, you can check out my music résumé.)

Before coming to Chicago, I was a graduate student at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. I got my undergraduate degree at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, the state in which I grew up. You can see an aerial view of my neighborhood here.

Oh, yeah, the lovely lady on my right? Her name is Yvonne. Ain't she a doll?
