Elena Obukhova is a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology at the University of Chicago with research interests in comparative economic sociology. Her Ph.D. dissertation investigates high-skilled migration and technological change in China's semiconductor industry. Elena also serves on the book review editorial board at the American Journal of Sociology. Elena received her B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Florida and M.S. in the Mathematical Methods for Social Sciences from the Northwestern University. Since 1995 she spent nearly 5 years studying Mandarin and conducting research in China. Currently Elena resides in Hyde Park with a pet cricket.
