Plastique F.E.S.P. Pittsburgh

plastique n: an explosive material that is easily molded around the object it is intended to destroy [syn: plastic explosive]; French: plastic [adjective-adverb]

I started out as a radio dj in high school and gradually became educated. After moving to Pittsburgh for school, I started "The Space Groove" on Pittsburgh's WRCT 88.3 fm in 1997. That show continued for a solid five years, and became the platform for our production crew to showcase outside talent. My style is continually evolving, and now that I have moved to Chicago, I am absorbing the new sounds I hear around me. As much as my tastes have changed, I always try to play a lot of different types of music. I like being a versatile dj. My favorite type of music is probably deep techno, probably due to the influence of those damn technoir boys. But I also enjoy playing various house sounds and hard techno at clubs and parties. (As much as I get into the "proper" techno sounds, I still do and and always will love house music.) Lately, I have been feeling some older sounds, disco and funk and all the musics that are the roots of current electronica.

The thing I enjoy most about spinning is being able to create a certain mood with the music, whether it is uptempo or chill lounge style. I love playing the sounds and I love the challenge of taking the crowd to a certain place with the music as my tool.

I mostly been play techno and house. I had a great residency at this bar called Kaya back in Pittsburgh, where I could play a lot of deep vibes, which I love. Since that has ended, I haven't had as many chances to play deep house aside from on the radio. At a party I generally like to play a lot of hard techno, hard beats, with melodic strings and some tribal beats. (There really is nothing like playing some driving techno on a big soundsystem.) House music seems to work best for the clubs. I especially like to play vocal house, frenchy sounds, and a touch of 80s jams. (It gets me back to my Deelite, pop-rock roots.)
