I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Chicago. My fields of specialization are Comparative Politics, Comparative Political Economy, and Political Methodology, with special interests in Distributive Politics, the Political Economy of Development, Political Regimes and Poverty Alleviation, Latin American Politics, and the Politics of International Development.

My job market paper, Distributive Politics and the Poor analyzes the relation between new democratic political regimes in developing countries and its effect on the public provision of primary health care and elementary education for the poor. It develops a theoretical formal model and provides empirical evidence to suggest that the distribution of social expenditures, in the form of primary health care and elementary education, is mostly determined by the interests of the economic elite.
