without weighing in on the debate being raged over here, i must say that i really like eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. see it. now. other things accomplished this weekend: received new/old car from parents for a birthday/graduation/other gift. the car looks roughly exactly like this, although there seem to be a few more dents in mine. in fact, the car is almost 10 years and while considerably newer than the old volvo (circa 1886), it's still an old car for american standards. the big plus is that our mechanic put in a refurbished engine and sold it to us for far less than it's worth. i hope. this means that the volvo is going to be finally put to rest. i sort of feel like i just shot an old horse but am having fun riding its younger, better looking offspring (poor analogy i know). it appears that i will be coming back into chicago tuesday. anyone want to play poker this week? or/and (emphasizing the and) who wants to go to a casino and play blackjack? i also got to see lindsay this weekend, which was really good. she graduates in under two months. hey-zeus!
so, i'm now 11/12thsesses the way through college. good. have no idea what i'm going to do for spring break. andy and i were talking about new orleans, but i'm not sure that it'll happen. somehow i don't have much money these days. i blame you. anyway, we'll see how things go. i will be going back to suck-waukee this weekend, although i'm anticipating only a minimal amount of sucking on the city's part. maybe i'll con my mom into buying me some new jeans. oh, and it's snowing that terrible not really snow not really rain but it sure is cold and wet stuff outside right now. gonna go turn in this paper and then that should be that should be that.
oh, and for all of you nick punto fans out there, i started the bandwagon and i'm going to ride it where ever it make take me. do you think if i write nick punto asking for an autographed picture and tell him i'm 12 he'll send me one? i think it's worth a try.
"Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below was as divisive for listeners as it was for the duo itself, forcing fans to side with either Andre's cartoonish seduction or Big Boi's trunk-rattling futurism. Though I liked several tracks on both discs, I found myself in the latter camp, because as forward-thinking as much of Andre's material was, his disc was weighed down with too many tracks like this one. "Roses", in many ways, epitomizes The Love Below for me: The music and production are fantastic, a Prince paean with budget keyboards spread over a sturdy kick and snare, but lyrically, it's just all too ridiculous. The chorus here kills what would otherwise have been an incredible second single: "I know you like to thank your shit don't stank/ But lean a little bit closer/ See that roses really smell like poo-poo." Come on! What the fuck is that?"
this is america. normally i don't get all hung up about american things, but this one is important: when walking on a sidewalk and there are other people walking in the opposite direction, stay on the RIGHT side of the walkway. i don't want you making me look/feel stupid for almost bumping into you because you won't obey they laws of the land.
that is all.
