last night saw mike and i travel to michigan city (indiana) where we entered the hallowed halls of the blue chip casino. it was all that i had envisioned and more; there were old people playing slots, tacky people everywhere and that sweet smell of gambling in the air. the night went like this: mike and quickly lost a few bucks in video poker (never play, it sucks), met mike's friend mike from south bend, watched a black jack table for an hour, finally got in, lost a lot right away but battle back to even, picked up our chips and went to the roulette table, put andy's $20 on red (i insisted it should have been black), won, put another $20 on red, won again, took all the chips and cashed out. vegas baby!

i think we're going to go again sometime in the future. if you want to come, let us know.

also, there was a fire near our apartment last night. a whole building burned down. but that wasn't the spectacular part. becasue it's so cold, the burnt our building is now one giant ice palace. pretty cool (as these things go).

i don't know if it's the ardent midwestern part of me, but am i allowed to stop people on the street who are not wearing hats and tell them that they are idiots? it's 1 degree, minus a bunch more with the windchill. at least put on a fucking hat people.

i can't think of a better reason to get back blogging. number of state that i have been to: 45

create your own visited states map
or write about it on the open travel guide

if you can beat that, let me know. my criteria is as follows. each state that is counted i must a) have a memory from and b) touched the ground in. i have been to texas twice, but only in the dallas airport, so that doesn't count. i have also been in oklahoma, but just driving through the panhandle, so i won't count that one either. i have spent the night in all but 5 of those states.
