a native Californian in my fourth year of a PhD in Linguistics program at the University of Chicago. I like to investigate anything on the “P” (phonetics/phonology) side of things---or what was once described to me by a semanticist as “the meaningless part of language”---but I try to nurture interests in bilingualism, acquisition, and pragmatics as well. I live with my husband and daughter (born September 2011) on the far-north side of the city and like to cook, read, travel, write, volunteer in the community, and teach, among other things.
