India
I spent Summer 2000 in India researching inter-community marriage on a
modest grant from the University Scholars
Program. My field work partner, Tara McGuinness, and I interviewed couples married across lines of caste, religion and
regional/linguistic group. Most of our informants reside in Delhi and
Bangalore, but our travels took us to Calcutta, Chennai, Mumbai,
Hyderabad, Dharamsala and Benares.
Some photos:
Baby in Jaipur
Man in Benares
Iron Workers in Calcutta
Father and Son in Trivandrum
There are a lot more photos where those came from, more soon... For
now, if interested, you may read the article that Tara and I published in
the Journal
of South Asian Studies by visiting your local university library, or
requesting a PDF copy directly from me.
