Hallstatt to Czech Republic

As we walked up to the hill back to the car, Bulchek, the black dog, kept pulling me to all directions.

I yanked back the leash and commanded with as much forcefulness as I could,

"Bulchek, Sientate!"

The dog would not listen.

You may ask why was I speaking Spanish to a dog with a German name in Czech Republic when I was supposed to be on a train to Salzburg in Austria.  Good question.

Yesterday I was still in Hallstatt, Austria, the small lake town which I came half way across the world for.   When I arrived, everything in the town was closed due to the off season.  But closest major city is two hours away by bus and transferred train.  It would be disappointing to leave after all the effort.  I settled in a restaurant for some hot austrian soup to ponder my next step.  The hostel here only opens at 4pm, so I have time.  It's 3:30pm.

It was then that the door to the restaurant opened and in came a group of people with a black dog.

(to be finished…)
