Michael Albertus

ABOUT ME

 

I am an assistant professor of political science at the University of Chicago. I spent the 2011-12 academic year as a postdoctoral fellow at Stanfordís Center for Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law.

My research interests include political regimes and redistribution, regime transitions and stability, politics under dictatorship, clientelism, and civil conflict. I am also currently working on a book project on land reform in Latin America. My research has been published in the British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, Economics & Politics, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Comparative Politics, International Studies Quarterly, and Latin American Research Review. I recently published an op-ed in the Washington Post's The Monkey Cage on the relationship between democracy and inequality.
