A "Visitor's guide to Floyd" promises that "Here in Floyd you'll find and experience the unique and interesting. Floyd offers up plenty of charm, friendliness, shopping, country-style dining and accommodations."
The "Front Page - Floyd Press" website offers the latest Floyd news, including this welcome information from Feb. 20, 2002: "A survey for a natural gas pipeline through Floyd can now proceed."
We don't know what to make of The Kubrick-Floyd site: "The general consensus in the world today seems to be that there might conceivably be 'something up' Kubrick-Floyd wise.... This web site is launched for the public interest in the hope of furthering by this small contribution the dissemination of interested information related to all things Kubrickian, Floydian, and Kubrick-Floydian." Well, any dissemination helps, and we commend their interest, even if they insist on using "-wise" as a suffix.
"Hurricane" Hunter's "Eye to Eye With Floyd" page. "Hurricane" Hunter declares: "Several islands in this 700-mile long chain took the brunt of Floyd's fury." And you should see the carpet in the Institute bedroom.
We also found a "John and Floyd's Place." Artistic and Technical Director John G. Urang says "Hurrah!"
The floyd.sourceforge.net site contains some intriguing and cryptic text:
"What Floyd provides?

Floyd is currently in active development and feature list is constanly changing. Currently it has:

* extremely flexible object-oriented structure [most cats are very flexible. This is why they tend to land on their feet. -ed.]
* 3DNow! accelerated library of 2D/3D primitives
* state preserving OpenGL objects with on-demand execution [execution of small mammals, maybe, but he hasn't caught any yet, thankfully. -ed.]
* tree of virtual world objects with asynchronous rendering
* asynchronous collision detection [so he doesn't run into anything. -ed.]
* vision rays and ray collision [hell, yeah. -ed.]
* exact and preferred-time timers [for instance, he prefers to eat every morning at 9. -ed.]

OK, but is it usable for anything?

To illustrate the ease and power of Floyd, I've created some test programs." [As have we, here at the Institute. It's all part of our research agenda. -ed.]

The Floyd Celluloyd site claims "Der Floyd hat Visionen." Stimmt.
To end on a rallying note, the "Floyd Central" page provides a fight song:

Floyd's not exactly a green and gold machine, but he is big. And we think he knows what victory means. If you go to the Floyd Central link, you can hear the FCHS bagpipers play the song. It's pretty intense.
