About this Site
Bivens.info is the official organ of the Bivens Institute, a non-profit and non-existent entity dedicated to the research and documentation of Floyd M. Bivens and Linda L. Bivens. The Bivens Institute believes that the understanding of these house cats is of central importance to the Bivens Institute, and potentially to the cats as well.
To this end, we have begun work on the bivens.info site as a virtual platform for our inquiries. Empirical forms of documentation (size comparisons, veterinary records, blogging, etc.) constitute a central focus of our work. Since it is a matter of pride at the Institute to offer you, the internet community, the most up-to-date graphics and cutting- edge design, you can expect to view this material alongside fascinating photography, attractive graphics, and elegant principles of lay-out.
You, the internet community, will have the opportunity to observe Floyd and Linda both at play and at work. You will come to understand both cats and their context in a safe and comfortable virtual setting.*
The site is multi-disciplinary in nature, reflecting the technological possibilities of its medium, as well as the training and interests of the researchers and scholars at the Bivens Institute. A variety of theoretical and scientific directions are, or will someday be, represented, including, but not limited to systems theory, psychoanalysis, biology, semiotics, Marxism, genetics, gender theory, film studies, and German Idealist aesthetic discourse.
In combining what are generally termed the hard sciences with a more theoretical approach, we hope to provide a framework for a self-reflexive critical theory of Floyd and Linda Bivens.
This site is intended to serve the internet community by functioning as a conduit from you, the internet community, to us, the Bivens Institute, and vice versa. To attain this goal, we require your help. Please make a stop at the "Contact" and "Feedback" pages a regular part of your visits to bivens.info. Through a complex feedback loop, we hope to provide you, the internet community, with the latest information every minute of every day. Because information is power, and power is money. By responding to the Floyd-and-Linda-related informational needs of the general public, the Bivens Institute hopes gradually to ascend to a position of insurmountable cultural hegemony, which the Institute will exploit ruthlessly in the interests of the Bivens Institute.
Welcome to our virtual house!
The Bivens Institute also sponsors the highly prestigious and successful bi-annual "Feeding the Cats" fellowship, which awards about $50 for the study of Floyd and Linda for 15 minutes a day for a week. Previous recipients have included Gavin Kleespies, Director of the Mount Prospect Historical Society, Gabriel Robinson, Ashley Passmore, and Matt Hunter, all MAs at the University of Chicago, as well as Morgan L. Jones, homeowner and motorcycle enthusiast of Philadelphias historic Fish Town district, noted electronic musician warmdesk, corporate powerhouse Kristi Barnes, and the legendary Allison Fletcher. In the future, we hope to expand this program with year long stipendiums for work related to Floyd and Linda. For further information, please contact A. Hunter Bivens at BBQ-Pork-Dinner@bivens.info
