Research Experience

Research Technologist of Surgery April 2010 - Now

The University of Chicago, Department of Surgery

Our laboratory focuses on designing novel synthetic biomaterials and investigating how they may be engineered to direct biological processes. My work is to design, build and characterize a self-synthesis peptide (biomaterial), which could be used as an adjuvant in the development of vaccine.

Research Technologist of MedicineJune 2008 - April 2010

The University of Chicago, Department of Medicine-Section of Gastroenterology

Our lab's main research interest is vitamin D endocrine system. I am assisting my lab members with their projects, and also taking care of our lab's mice breeding and husbandry. The projects I focused in are to find the relations between VDR and some human diseases.

Student Researcher January 2008 - June 2008

Illinois Institute of Technology, Molecular and Cell Biology Lab

My research was focused on the molecular mechanisms of cancer and its potential therapy. I was studying the Bax-mediated apoptotic pathway and its associated signal-transduction network in the progression of prostate cancer using in vitro prostate cancer model systems. I transfected the pro-apoptotic molecules Bax which extracted from other cells to the prostate cancer cell to study the role of the apoptotic machinery in the development of cancer.

Student Researcher July 2005 - January 2007

Chengdu Sports University, Sports Medicine Lab

My working is focused on the mechanism of exercise induced myocardial injury and the protection of the injury.
