Patricia B. Brauner

Patricia B. Brauner is the former Coordinator of the Center for Italian Opera Studies, which prepares the Rossini critical edition and assists the University of Chicago Press with the Verdi edition. She is also former Managing Editor of Works of Gioachino Rossini (Bärenreiter-Verlag, Kassel). For the Fondazione Rossini she has edited Rossini's L'occasione fa il ladro (with Giovanni Carli Ballola and Philip Gossett), Ermione (with Philip Gossett), Armida (with Charles S. Brauner), La riconoscenza / Il vero omaggio, and La pietra del paragone (with Anders Wiklund); for Bärenreiter she has edited Il barbiere di Siviglia and Petite Messe solennelle (with Philip Gossett), which received the American Musicological Society's 2010 Claude Palisca Award for best edition.

Besides 19th-century Italian opera, her interests lie in medieval music and liturgy, manuscript studies, and problems of editing.
