My
work is oriented towards three interrelated areas, and the
theoretical frameworks needed to understand them.
The first is the organization and dynamics of how knowledge is deployed,
warranted, and transformed into norms. My second focus has been on the
way professionals generate esteem in an organization. The third is the
role of language in face-to-face and mediated interaction, and the way
people in either of these contexts confront and overcome the problems of
assigning meaning to an utterance and of ensuring these words make sense
to others.
