Setting

It's been 200 years since Stoneybeard, Karl, Mustaf, Dorian, and Ober disappeared. In that time, a druid of immense influence and power, known only as The Queen, has conquered the Kallakura Isles. The human kingdom of Kallakura fell immediately, having already been in the grips of plague and famine. The elven kingdom of Nalonatae lasted mere weeks until the forests themselves turned on their protectors.

The Queen has used her unknown magics to reform the Isles to her liking. Humanoids have been replaced by intelligent beings collectively known as Creaturekin. (With some exceptions, these Creaturekin are the Anthropomorphic Animals template from Savage Species p.214. Some of these species have fled to Charn. Let me know if you plan to play a Creaturekin.) The Queen is poised to take over her next target, Charn, and the Dwarves of Bombur Meardin.

The Hammerites of Charn and their dwarven allies have improved their technologies enough to be the only significant opposition force against The Queen. For 200 years the war has been a stalemate and The Queen is beginning to gain ground...

What happened last adventure

A Captain in the Charnar guard, Jericho Porter took the PCs to an inn to get out of the rain and enjoy the city's festival. During the festivities, an emaciated man stumbles into the PCs and collapses. His clothes are in tatters and his eyes are so clouded over he is nearly blind. The clothes have a patch on them with an unknown emblem and written in elven is "Adventure only if you want the best." His clothes also have several fragments of thorny vines from the Southern Forest. The man is too far gone to be saved. His last words are: "Elves. Danger. Wiped out." It so happens that Jericho is on his way to Port City to take command of the local garrison and asks the PCs to accompany him and investigate what happened to this man.

After arriving in Port City, the party finds out that the emblem the old man was wearing represents an old fort town in the forest called Angalana: It's a local legend. Angalana was a fort built long ago as the foundation to a new community. The adventurers who funded the venture often stayed there and new people followed them. Eventually the adventurers found more interesting things to do and stopped coming back. The community floundered for a while but was eventually abandoned.

Sen (rogue/fighter/occult slayer), Clawdia (catpeople sorceror), Proak (frog person cleric), and a Satyr rolled up to this centuries old fort and found it was infested with vampires and their spawn. The Satyr wandered away after helping to deal with a Duergar spell caster. Sen, Clawdia, and Proak continued down into the basement of the fort and were confronted with deadly traps and even deadlier, savage vampires. Of particular interest, they found a trophy room with several heads mounted on the wall: a red dragon head, ogre head, some sort of clockwork head that the PCs were unable to identify... Later on, Sen was infected with some necrotic growth and the PCs decided to run back to town with their tails between their legs.
